Unlike most (Kiefer) wooden posts of the wood species Pinus Sylvestris are the Carmo posts of the species Pinus Pinaster. This type of wood distinguishes itself in its structure and has stronger fibres. The posts are peeled, so the core is always retained and the pole is proven stronger than milled Carmo posts are the highest quality poles. This is also necessary for reliable and good planting.
The Carmo wooden posts are guaranteed for 20 years. This means that if the pole rots it will always be fully compensated. Carmo Wood can give a full 20 years guarantee because it is certain of the quality of her Carmo poles.
The FCBA quality mark, which is the independent body that monitors the quality of the piles, has as a guideline that class 4 wood should be treated at least with 15l Tanalith per m3 wood. Our Carmo piles are treated with 28 kilos per m3.
The biggest difference is in the humidity. The Carmo wooden piles are treated when the humidity is between 18% and 20%. The posts are treated with Tanalith 8001. This product contains an additive against moulds that are copper resistant. There are many more types of Tanalith but none of them contains a fungal additive. Therefore we have chosen for Tanalith 8001. The colour of the poles alone shows that there is more substance in them.
