Automatic Hail Net System
FruitSecurity Holland has, next to the flat hail netting system, also an automatic variant in the product range: the automatic hail netting protection system. From the very first development, FruitSecurity Holland has cooperated to get the system operational. The automatic hail protection system is designed in such a way that it requires minimal maintenance over the years.
FeaturesCharacteristic for the automatic hail net system is the row spacing. Driving distances of up to 11 metres are possible. This with driving heights up to 5.0m. The desired height of the system can always be discussed. Due to these characteristics of row distances, row heights and post distances, it is possible to use a 3-row sprayer. This with ideal protection against hail and sunburn. |
Drainage systemThe Automatic Hail Network Protection System works without hail discharge. Therefore, the system avoids damage from scattered hail. The hail net has been extensively tested in areas with very strong winds and under heavy snow loads for wind and rain permeability. |
Hail netsFruitSecurity Holland has developed its own type of hail net. The hail net type WIESEL with a mesh size of 2.8mm x 8.7mm is the optimal protection against small and large hail stones. Different colours of hail nets can be chosen. FruitSecurity Holland supplies hail nets in the colours: Crystal, Grey, Black, Light Grey and Milk White. If you need a different colour, this is possible after consultation. The colour of the hail nets depends on the variety and the light conditions in the orchard. The hail nets are placed on the crosswire, so that there is no contact with the fruit trees under the flat hail net system. |
Light lossThe automatic hail net system has the least light loss in comparison with other systems. The least light loss is due to the fact that fewer square metres of hail nets are needed on the system. The three most common colour types of hail nets are crystal, grey and black. Crystal has an 8% shade, grey 13% and black 18%. |
Opening and closingAs the name of the Automatic Hail Net System already says, the system can be opened and closed automatically. The system can be fully or partially opened and closed when required. The opening and closing of the hail nets can be done by means of sensors or with a mobile device. |

Sustainable
If desired, the automatic hail netting system can also be equipped with solar panels. If you opt for solar panels, no external power connection is required. The battery packs are designed by FruitSecurity Holland in such a way that the system can always open and/or close. In case of emergency, the motors can even be driven manually.
The automatic hail net can be controlled with climate computers and be incorporated in the existing technology on the farm.
Motor
The subdivision of the number of sections per engine is often the same. Under each motor is a section of 5000 square metres of system area. Per section of 5000 square metres, the automatic hail netting system can open or close in approximately 7 minutes. Of course, the sections can also be opened or closed simultaneously.
The section sizes in the plot may have a maximum size of 10 metres x 3 metres. The automatic sections can even be integrated on an existing flat hail netting system.
FruitSecurity Holland has installed automatic hail netting systems in the following sectors: Tree nursery, fruit cultivation and plant cultivation. At the Test Centre for Fruit Cultivation in Belgium there is also an automatic hail net system.
